One of the questions that belief in God raises is which God to believe in. There are so many alternatives. But to an incoming company of angels, it is a mystery as to how this situation could exist. This video serves as a brief explanation.
Pluralism results when people from many different cultural backgrounds live alongside each other. People of different religions living side by side is not a problem. The first Christians saw this as an opportunity for sharing their faith. However, when pluralism becomes an ideology that sees this as how we ought to live, as if all religions are equally valuable, there is a problem. There are literally millions of gods that are worshipped and even those religions that worship only one God, worship different Gods.
An alternative is to say that there is no absolute truth or that human's don't have the ability to comprehend it. Everyone must follow their own beliefs and respect the beliefs of others. Relativists frown upon Christians for insisting there is one truth, which is Jesus Christ, and seeking to share the gospel with others. If Christianity is correct, all the other religions are wrong. This does not mean that only Christians go to heaven, for that judgement is the prerogative of Jesus who looks into the heart for faith in God.
There are various reasons atheists give for not believing in God. One is the existence of evil in the world, that they inexplicably attribute to God. How the non-existence of God resolves the problem and brings about justice is not explained by the atheist. Another reason for not believing in God as the creator is given by Buddhists who view creation as cyclic with no starting point. Why there would be one universe after another, they cannot explained.
Jesus, in saying that he is the way, the truth and the life, countered these three ways of avoiding faith in him. It is the reason Christians believe in Christ for a way to a relationship with God, for believing that truth is ultimately personal, and for having hope for eternal life. See John 14:6.
